- Rev. Deven MixonChildren & Family Pastor
I began my salvation journey with Jesus Christ when I was nine years old. I remember years ago when I was invited by a friend to a church event and the gospel was preached and my heart awoke to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Since then, my personal relationship with Christ has grown. As I “work out my salvation” in faithful conduct and Christian living, I see His hand guiding me and sanctifying me all along the way and I fully recognize “for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure” and that there is no other in whom I can go and find such forgiveness, peace and complete joy!
I surrendered the call to vocational ministry in my sophomore year of college. I've served as interim assistant youth minister at Central Baptist Church in Americus, Ga; preschool, children and youth minister at Limestone Baptist Church, Cochran, Ga; youth pastor and later education pastor at FBC Ludowici, Ga. I graduated from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2007 with a Master's of Education in discipleship and leadership. Candice and I have been married since 2000 and have three children: Haddon, Hannah and Hudson. We are excited to be ministering since 2013 at Altamaha Baptist Church and find joy in seeing children and their families grow in Christlikeness!
