We are excited that you found us on the web or in person at our church facility which is located at 6622 Oglethorpe Road in the Madray Springs Community just outside of Jesup, GA.
Please take time to navigate through our website to learn more about what the Lord is doing at Altamaha Baptist. If you have not yet had an opportunity to visit, we invite you to join us this Sunday for a life changing time of praise and worship.
Everyone’s Welcome
We’re glad you’re considering a visit to Altamaha Baptist Church. We would encourage you to get to know who we are and what we’re about by browsing through our website. We offer a wide variety of ministry opportunities for people of all ages, and there are plenty of ways for you and your family to get involved.
When We Meet
Worship services on Sundays at 10:30 AM.
Bible Study (Sunday School) at 9:15 AM for children – adults.
We have a safe, clean, and beautifully equipped nursery for babies and toddlers. Our desire is that every young family can enjoy worshiping at ABC knowing that your children are well taken care of.
You’ll hear worship music, both contemporary and traditional, done in a vibrant style by our music team using modern instruments and technology. You may see people with their hands up or down, eyes open or closed, but worship at ABC is all about honoring and giving praise to our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.
Of course, worship is more than just singing. We also worship God as we hear and apply God’s Word. Scriptures are preached each Sunday in a way that is faithful to the text and applicable to our lives. Prayer is an important feature of our worship service as well.
What We Believe
We are followers of Jesus Christ who gather to WORSHIP our Savior, STUDY God’s Word, SERVE one another in love, and REACH out to those who don’t yet know Jesus.
What To Expect
If you’re new with us, we encourage you to visit our Welcome Center on Sunday mornings where you will find some of our people who will be happy to answer your questions and help you find your place.
What should I wear? Please come as you are. When you come here, you’ll find that people generally dress in casual and what you might call “business casual” styles. Just come, relax, and feel comfortable.
What is a typical service like? You’ll find people of all ages here who treat each other like a big family. We have an excellent worship team that leads us in worship using the current instruments and sound technology. On any given Sunday, you’ll hear classic hymns as well as contemporary music.
You’ll hear a solid, uncompromising message right from the Bible each week with a special emphasis on how we can apply God’s Word to our lives in a very practical and meaningful way right where we live.
Is Altamaha Baptist affiliated with a denomination? Yes, we’re affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, the Georgia Baptist State Convention, and the Altamaha-New Sunbury Baptist Association.
If I like it here, how can I become a member? Interested in joining or finding out more about Altamaha Baptist Church? Our Discovering Membership Class is held periodically throughout the year.
If the Lord is leading you to become a member, please contact the church office at (912-586-6780) or you may email at altamaha@windstream.net to find out when the next Discovering Membership Class will be scheduled.
At this class, you will find out who we are, what we believe, what our church is all about, and how you can get connected and become a member of the Altamaha Baptist Family! |
Do you have a ministry for children? Yes! We would love for your kids to join us each Sunday morning and Wednesday evening:
Do you offer Sunday School (Bible Study) for teens and adults? Absolutely! We have Bible Study on Sunday mornings for all ages. We have a number of different adult classes to join. Some are age based, and others are more cross generational.
We encourage our newcomers to visit several classes in order to find the class that you are comfortable with. Teens have their own special Bible Study in our Youth area. Our youth leaders provide a Biblically based lesson that meets the needs and challenges of our teenagers in today’s world. Be sure to visit our Welcome Center at the main entrance, and a friendly face will be happy to point you in the right direction.
Will I be expected to give money when I come? No, as our guest, don’t feel any obligation to participate in this part of the service. It’s primarily for our regular attendees and members. At each service, we do receive tithes and offerings, because God calls us to give (Mal. 3:10) and because that’s how any church receives funding to operate.
How can I get a copy of one of the Sunday messages? The easiest way is to just navigate to our sermons page and click on the message you’d like to hear or download. |
